Journaling Ideas

Use some of the following prompts below to start a journaling practice. Write, draw, reflect, paint…it’s your journal…it’s your experience…build it your way.

  • What is going well in your life right now?
  • What could be improved in your life right now?
  • What is something you did well in the last week?
  • What are your regular routines or rituals? Do they serve you, or are there parts that you would like to change?
  • What are your current short-term goals? Longer-term goals?
  • What areas of your life are getting the most attention right now? Are there any areas that need more of your attention?
  • What are your dreams? What are your fears?
  • How do you see yourself? How do you want others to see you? Do these match?
  • Write down or picture one or more of your favorite memories. Describe it in detail.
  • Start writing down quotes or sayings that you find inspiring or meaningful.
  • What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you? Tell the story in your journal.
  • Imagine standing in front of yourself as a child. What do they say to you? What do they need?
  • Doodle something beautiful that you’ve seen recently.
  • Write about a memorable dream you’ve had.
  • Have you had any brilliant thoughts recently? Record them in a journal so that you remember them later!
  • What is love to you?
  • Write down moments that make you smile throughout the day.
